Eight rungs

Letters, not levels. Hard seasonal resets and ten placement matches mean an A+ in Season 9 is the same A+ it was in Season 1. Most players finish a season in B or C+ — that is the point.

What a match actually is

  1. 01

    Queue

    Solo or with up to four others. SkillDiff launches on NA Central only &mdash; one region, one healthy queue &mdash; with more to come. The anti-cheat client has to be running before you can search.

  2. 02

    Ready check

    Twenty seconds. Everyone accepts or the match dissolves and the decliner pays for it.

  3. 03

    Captain draft

    The two highest-rated players pick the other eight, alternating. You know exactly who you're playing with before anything spins up.

  4. 04

    Map veto

    Six alternating bans across the active duty pool. The survivor is the decider — no rotation roulette.

  5. 05

    Server

    A 128-tick dedicated server and a connect string, the moment veto ends. GOTV on every match.

  6. 06

    The record

    One number moves. It resolves to a letter, and the letter is public.
